I am a professional photographer from Bogotá, Colombia, living in New York since 2008, and specializing in newborn, baby, and child portraiture.
Some cultures believe that being photographed is having your soul stolen by a lens. I understand the sentiment. Photography has the ability to capture one’s soul - or the essence of a moment, a place, a thing - and hold it forever, to be remembered, enjoyed, celebrated for the rest of time.
As a proud dad, I know how amazing is to look into the eyes of our children and try to decipher the mysteries that their pure souls have enclosed. As a photographer, I am a storyteller. Each image tells a story and my goal is to capture on them the soul of my subjects - the depth emotions
locked in a moment, a look, a smile -, so these stories
can forever re-tell themselves to their viewers.
My background in film gives me a cinematic approach.
When it comes to photographing babies and pets,
I control every aspect of the environment and let my
subject to freely interact with it. When photographing
kids, I have a hands-off, unobtrusive style. In both cases,
there is always something that I was not expecting and that
is when magic happens.
